DC Fan SUING DC Studios for Falsely Advertising Henry Cavill’s Return As Superman!

Writer: Louis MihaelLouis Mihael

For misrepresenting Henry Cavill's return to the movie franchise, a DC fan reportedly suing DC Studios.

When Henry Cavill wore the blue tights once more in Black Adam from the previous year, DCEU diehard fans were ecstatic. DC Studios quickly made it clear that Cavill's Man of Steel would not be working on the larger project that was hinted at in the film. Now that they are outraged, DCEU fans are vowing to sue DCU. The real question is, “can they?”

James Gunn, the new co-CEO of DC Studios, has announced the new DCU. Gunn is willing to move through with Crisis on Infinite Earths, which was formerly Warner Bros.'s plan for the DC Extended Universe, in place of Snyder's initial concept for the DCEU.

Henry Cavill played Superman in three films under the Snyderverse (Zack Snyder's universe) banner. Before James Gunn fired Cavill and won't be reprising his heroic role, he appeared in Black Adam. Gunn then clarified that Kal-El in the DC Universe needs to be played by a younger actor. Now in recent tweets, James Gunn said he's looking for an actor in their 30s even though Cavill is only 39 years old. The choice made by the co-CEO divided DC fans, who were shocked by the news.

Now, according to We Got This Covered (a notoriously unreliable source), one die-hard fan has suggested bringing a class action false advertising lawsuit against DC Studios because they failed to fulfill their obligations to bring Cavill back to his role as Superman after his cameo in Dwayne Johnson's movie and making an official announcement, as ordered by WB.

A similar complaint was recently brought against Universal when Ana de Armas appeared in the teaser but not the finished movie. While movie trailers are sometimes referred to as advertisements, the same is not true of a final movie. Hence, the lawsuit against DC Studios could not be legitimate. Though there is still the official announcement WB required Henry Cavill to upload onto his Instagram. Cavill’s Instagram video was met with so much excitement, it even received more views than an MCU movie trailer. Proving that the fans of the SnyderVerse and Henry Cavill are eager for more of Cavill’s Superman.

The SnyderVerse, which includes "Man of Steel," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," “Suicide Squad,” and “Wonder Woman” was WB and DC's best-selling movies in the DCEU. The SnyderVerse has amassed a large fanbase, who appreciate its darker tone and focus on character development. With the release of "Zack Snyder's Justice League," fans are calling for the restoration of the SnyderVerse, hoping to see more of his vision for these iconic characters. Many believe that the SnyderVerse has the potential to rival the MCU and bring more diversity to the superhero genre.
