With its upcoming game, Avalanche Software promises to provide fans with a fun experience in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and according to previews, Avalanche delivers that promise.
Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world RPG set in the Wizarding World first introduced in the beloved Harry Potter books. Play as a student who holds the answer to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the Wizarding World apart. Only you have the power to choose whether you will protect this secret for the good of all, or give in to the temptation of more dark magic.

"One of the Most Striking Aspects of Hogwarts Legacy is the Combat"
Gabriel Huerta of MeriStation explained, “One of the most striking aspects of Hogwarts Legacy is the combat and the use of the magic of the Wizarding World. As you might expect, many famous spells will be on our menu. Leviosa, Incendio, Accio, and Flipendo, are some of the magic that we were able to use to attack during the various battles that we had, while Protego helped us to stop certain magical attacks that we were being attacked with. The player will have the opportunity to practice combat in the Hogwarts Dueling Club, so they will know exactly how to go into combat and not die trying.”
Luke Winkie of IGN describes, “The combat was the highlight for me, which I was not expecting. In previous Potter games, the quicksilver wizard clashes of the books are reduced to dull, rote third-person shooting galleries — Harry, Ron, and Hermione taking on an endless series of identical death eaters, who all seem to brandish magical facsimiles of shotguns and sniper rifles. Hogwarts Legacy changes the formula considerably. Despite the projectiles ricocheting back and forth across the arenas, the game functions more like a Ninja Gaiden-esque combo masher. Your character automatically locks onto wherever they're facing, and the hocus-pocus that comes cascading out of your wand can be chained together like a screen-filling, health bar-obliterating Marvel Vs. Capcom tsunami. Game director Alan Tew compares the system to a sort-of "long-range dueling.”

Unfortunately, it seems that the preview of the upcoming didn’t include or the journalist wasn’t as impressed by the open-world aspect of the game. However, one journalist did mention how surprisingly detailed both exteriors and interiors were. Flying on one's broom seems to have been a letdown, though the player can fly around Hogwarts, to Hogsmeade and Quidditch pitch.
The journalists who were fortunate to play this Exclusive preview, seem more fixated on the controversy surrounding J.K Rowling and the use of one of the forbidden curses in the game. As Stream has shown, many fans don’t care about the controversy, as they have already made Hogwarts Legacy one of the bestselling games of 2023 with pre-orders alone.

For the time being, it appears that Hogwarts Legacy manages to satisfy the anticipation for what will arrive in a little over two weeks. There are still a lot of things to examine over, like the customization options, items, collectibles, and the storyline. The game has potential, but we'll have to wait to fully understand it.
On February 10th, Hogwarts Legacy will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Versions for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch will be made available later.
