Star Wars Celebration 2023 Unveil Exciting Details, Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, Ahsoka, & 3 new films!

Star Wars Celebration held its Friday panel, the Lucasfilm Showcase, previewing the films and TV shows coming from the studio. The panel was hosted by Ali Plumb and took place in the United Kingdom with 4,500 fans in attendance. Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, kicked off the panel by thanking the people who work with and support Lucasfilm and expressing her excitement to be back in London for Star Wars Celebration.

The first title in the showcase was Andor. The cast and creators of Andor take the stage, including B-2. Gilroy updates Season 2, revealing that they started shooting in November and are about halfway through, shooting through August. The post-production and music will take another year, and they plan to release the show in August. Luna introduces a clip from Season 2 of Andor, showcasing all the characters, including some new faces. Cassian Andor is seen sitting at a bar dressed in a suave outfit and grinning past the camera.

Leslye Headland, the creator of the upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte, explains that the show will focus on the villains of the Star Wars universe and will be set between the High Republic and the prequels when the bad guys are outnumbered. The show will have lots of Jedi as it is set in a time period when there is no war. The cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Joonas Suatamo, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Manny Jacinto. The footage shown at the event features a Jedi master instructing younglings, Carrie Anne-Moss fighting an assassin, and eight Jedi overlooking something mysterious.

Skeleton Crew is a show in post-production, which is about a group of kids in the galaxy. The inspiration for the series came from a call between Dave Filoni, Jon Watts, and Jon Favreau, and it was meant to be Star Wars meets Goonies, according to Favreau. The show's episodes will be directed by Jon Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. The first footage introduces the characters and shows that the show will be an ambitious adventure with children who encounter Jude Law's character, a Jedi. The parents of the children are trying to find them while the children face danger from pirates and other creatures in the galaxy.

Next up is Ahsoka. Kennedy and Favreau give praises to Filoni's efforts, dedication, and knowledge. Rosario Dawson takes the stage and a poster and a trailer are revealed, giving the show an August of 2023 release date. The series begins after Ahsoka's appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, in which she is shown to be hunting for the character Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Filoni said the series would tell a serialized story rather than having separate adventures in each episode.

Kathleen Kennedy has announced that three new live-action Star Wars movies are in the works. The movies will be directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Mangold's film will be set in the dawn of the Jedi era, Filoni's will be focused on the New Republic and will tie together the storylines of several Disney+ series including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka. Obaid-Chinoy's movie will take place after the events of Rise of Skywalker and will see Daisy Ridley return as Rey as she establishes a new Jedi Order.
